Apistogramma iniriae frequents the same habitats as P. altum and can make a natural addition to your altum biotype tank.
Not really hard to breed, the species requires water into the pH 4 range and nil DH, really low conductivity. It is a cave spawner and takes good care of the young. Once the pair has spawned, the female will hardly ever be seen until fry become free swimming. The male will take care of the yard meanwhile. Males can grow 2.5 inches and they pump up like bettas when courting. Females grow to an inch and a half and acquire a deep golden color when ready, she has much shorter fins than her male.
